Burn Permits in Mountain Green

The County Fire Warden is a Utah State Employee of the Division of Natural Resources (DNR).  The Fire Warden or Assistant Fire Warden regulate issuance of Burn Permits within all of Morgan County, including Mountain Green.

Burn Permits depend upon a number of factors such as burn period/seasonal dates, clearing index (weather that allows smoke to "clear"), what is to be burned, and where.  Burn Permits and additional instructions can be found at this link:

NO PERMITS WILL BE ISSUED AT ANY TIME FOR THE HIGHLANDS AREA.

When is the official open burning season?
Open burning typically occurs from April 1st to May 31st (Clearing Index 500) and November 1st to March 31st (Clearing Index 250), though daily decisions depend on the Clearing Index.

What if I live in The Highlands area?
Open burning is strictly prohibited in The Highlands zone due to high vegetation density and fire risk. Residents should utilize community green waste services.

Are there any fees associated with permits?
Residential permits are currently issued free of charge. They must be renewed each season and verified against the daily clearing index.
